Enoch and Elijah: two people who have the unique experience of being taken out of this world to be with the Lord without seeing death. In Genesis 5 it says of every name listed ‘and he died.’ But it does Not say that of Enoch.
By faith Enoch was taken away so that he did not see death, “and was not found, because God had taken him”; for before he was taken, he had this testimony, that he pleased God. Hebrews 11.5
The last generation of believers in Jesus Christ, at time of the Second Coming, will have this experience too.
Elijah was also taken directly into heaven without dying. 2 Kings 2.11
Enoch prophesied midway between Adam and Abraham. Elijah midway between Abraham and Messiah. Both of these were periods of spiritual apostasy. Enoch living in a time of great wickedness on earth. He prophesied the end of it all (the Flood). He himself is taken out before his prophecy comes to pass. This was an unexpected event. No prior warning. How was it explained to those left behind?
