The scripture goes on to say that there are two choices:
God did not send His son into the world to condemn the world but that the world, through Him, might be saved.
We’re either going to be condemned or saved.
Whether you’re condemned or saved depends solely upon whether you believe in Jesus Christ as Saviour.
18 “He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. 19 And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. 20 For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. 21 But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, that they have been done in God.”
John 3.18-21
Those verses don’t really need explanation. They’re clear. Either you come to the light in Jesus and you’re saved, or you reject the light and you’re condemned.
Condemned could also mean ‘damned’; you’re separated from God for eternity.
And that’s the choice which is before every human being upon the face of the earth. Every human being on the face of the earth is born of the flesh.
Not every human being on the face of the earth is born of the Spirit.
But our God’s Will is that everybody should be saved and we have to make the choice to repent, to believe the Gospel, to receive eternal life through faith in Jesus, believing what Jesus did on the cross was sufficient to pay the price for the sin of the world, and believing that He rose from the dead, that He ever lives to make intercession for us, and that He’s coming back soon to sort out the mess of the world and to take us to be with Himself where we’ll be with Him forever and ever.
Therefore, believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved, amen.
Father, we thank you for Jesus. We thank you that you’ve done it all. Thank you for your death on the cross, thank you for your resurrection, thank you for the life that you give to us.
I pray each one of us may respond to your Word and believe on the Lord Jesus Christ. I pray for our friends, our families, those who don’t know you. I pray for the world in its sin and its unbelief Lord, that you would cause many people in these last days to turn from darkness to light, and to believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, amen.
