Antisemitic leaflets bearing the threat “Zionists leave Britain or be slaughtered” have been found in Hendon, a predominantly Jewish neighbourhood in London. The flyers also declared the area a “Zionist free zone”. Isaac Zarfati, executive director of Stand With Us UK, warned:
“We must take those threats and statements seriously because one day they will turn into actions. Decisive steps are needed to combat this alarming phenomenon.”

This is just one of a number of antisemitic incidents taking place in Britain and across the western world. Since the Gaza war started there have been weekly demonstrations against Israel that have turned into hate fests against Jews and Israelis and those who stand with them as anti-Zionists gather to chant ‘Free Palestine’ and ‘From the River to the Sea Palestine shall be free.’ This means setting up a Palestinian State from the Jordan River to the Mediterranean Sea, in place of the existing State of Israel. Eliminating Israel is the stated goal of Hamas. Many in the more moderate Palestinian Authority follow the PLO’s aim, stated in their Phased Policy of 1974, of setting up first a Palestinian State in whatever part of the land Israel withdraws from and then using this as a base from which to destroy the rest of Israel.
Whether those who march against Israel realise it or not, this is the aim of the anti-Zionist alliance of leftists and Islamists in Europe. It is now expressing itself in ugly incidents across the continent. Germany has experienced a ‘tsunami of anti-Semitism’ since October 7th with over 5000 incidents motivated by classic German right-wing elements, along with left-wing and Islamist elements who form alliances around this issue (the so-called red-green alliance).
On 7 November Arab men in Amsterdam assaulted Israeli soccer fans who had come to the city to watch Maccabi Tel Aviv play Ajax Amsterdam. In the pre-planned attacks, groups of men chased and beat up Israelis. Some victims were humiliated and made to say “free Palestine” before they were beaten up. On instant messaging groups, perpetrators used the term “Jew hunt,” with Muslim taxi drivers playing a key role in directing the rioters to where the Israelis were.
Geert Wilders, the leader of the Party for Freedom and member of the ruling coalition in Holland, called the incident in Amsterdam a “pogrom,” as did Israeli President Isaac Herzog. He tweeted:
“First the Jew hunt, now an intifada.”

Wilders said the disturbances were fresh examples of the failure of Muslims to integrate into Dutch society and uphold its norms, as well as of their antisemitism.
In neighbouring Belgium MP Filip Dewinter told parliament that the antisemitism Europe faces is not an isolated phenomenon but one inherently tied to Islam. He described the Quran as a root cause of this hatred, fuelling violence against Jews and non-believers alike. He said
“This ideology itself teaches hostility towards Jews as a fundamental principle. Europe must wake up to the reality of Islamic antisemitism, which is embedded in Islamic teachings. Failing to confront it will lead to the erosion of Jewish life, European values, and the freedoms that define Western civilisation.”

In the run up to the US election Donald Trump said that Jews in the United States are facing their greatest threat since World War II. Trump’s comments come amid a surge in antisemitism in the United States and globally after Hamas started a war against Israel on Oct. 7, 2023 with the highest number of antisemitic incidents in the United States ever recorded by the Anti Defamation League. In Montreal, Canada, pro Hamas terror mobs rampaged through the city in an orgy of violence and Jew hatred, calling for ‘the globalisation of the Intifada,’ while the government did nothing to stop them.
The mainstream Christian church is largely silent on this rise in antisemitism. The now departing Archbishop of Canterbury, Justin Welby, issued many inflammatory statements regarding the Jewish state as the Hamas-Israel war has continued. He gave his support to the controversial International Court of Justice (ICJ) advisory opinion condemning Israel’s continued presence in the West Bank and East Jerusalem, accusing Israel of “denying the Palestinian people dignity, freedom and hope”.
He had nothing to say about PA terrorism and desire to destroy the state of Israel. Rabbi Goldstein said ‘By publicly denouncing Israel in the middle of its war against Iranian-backed, radical Islamist terrorist organizations, Welby and other leaders have only encouraged the enemies of the Jewish state and Western democracies.’
A religious text book used in Saudi Arabia has a section ‘The victory of the Muslims over the Jews’ and quotes the Hadith attributed to Mohammed:
“The last hour won’t come before the Muslims would fight the Jews and the Muslims will kill them so Jews would hide behind rocks and trees. Then the rocks and tree would call: oh Muslim, oh servant of God! There is a Jew behind me, come and kill him.”

This text is widely known and propagated by Muslim fundamentalists, particularly in their opposition to Israel. The Hamas attack on Israel which started the current round of conflict was an attempt to put this into practice. The Hamas charter says

‘Israel will exist and will continue to exist until Islam will obliterate it’

The liberal left alliance that chants ‘from the River to the Sea Palestine will be free’ presumably agrees with this.
Those who seek the destruction of Israel from the ‘red-green’ alliance are not just anti-Israel. The main assault on biblical Christianity today and its influence on western society also comes from the far left and the Islamists. It is time for Christians who love the Lord and His word to stand with Israel and the Jewish people against this onslaught.
