How can these thing be?

H

Nicodemus says he doesn’t understand. ‘How can these things be?’ He asks And Jesus said, ‘Well, you should understand what I’m talking about because you’re a teacher of Israel, you’re not one of the am erets (the common people). You should know these things, you should know the scriptures, you should know what God has to say.’ In fact, there are plenty of scriptures in the...

Baptism: the road ahead

B

A series of ‘matter of fact’ guides to the meaning and relevance of baptism in the life of Christians today It’s the word I felt to give to those who are being baptized but also to all of us; all of us as we’re facing what could be very uncertain and difficult days. We don’t know what the next step is going to be. There doesn’t seem to be any answer to the...

Conversion

C

In the Book of Acts chapter 3, Peter is preaching, and he says to the crowd, Repent therefore and be converted that your sins may be blotted out so that times of refreshing may come from the presence of the LordActs 3.19 ‘Repent and be converted’. Converted means to be turned around to turn from going one way to going another way. The Hebrew word for conversion is teshuva which means to turn from...

Sexual immorality – Kyuwon Park

S

Verse 3 speaks about sexual immorality. Interestingly, and if you go to 1 Corinthians chapter 6 verses 15 to 20, there are five reasons why we should avoid sexual immorality. So, let me read out from verse 15. It says, “15 Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ? Shall I then take the members of Christ and make them members of a harlot? Certainly not! 16 Or do you not know that he...

Lessons from the Tabernacle – (Part 2)

L

Moses, after he received the ten commandments and brought them down, went back up to the mountain and received further commands and orders from the Lord. As God was giving him these further instructions on how to live in the light of His commandments, specific instructions about access to God, about how to come to God through the Tabernacle, through the priesthood, the offerings, and the...

How then should we live? – Kyuwon Park

H

When Jesus comes back, it will be a very joyous and great time for us. And this end time Second Coming of Jesus is an interesting subject theologically and eschatologically. Yet, I believe urgency and desire should come from ‘heart knowledge’ rather than ‘head knowledge’. We can know many things about this Second Coming of Jesus, but unless you have this ‘heart...

Baptism is the beginning, NOT the end

B

I want to concentrate on Acts 2 verse 42: 42 And they continued steadfastly in the apostles’ doctrine and fellowship, in the breaking of bread, and in prayers.Acts 2.42 What that tells you is that when you get to the page of baptism you haven’t arrived, you’ve started; you haven’t reached the finishing post, you haven’t got your certificate! Now, you can say:...

Baptism, the first call to Church

B

It’s the word I felt to give to those who are being baptized but also to all of us. All of us as we’re facing what could be very uncertain and difficult days. I don’t know if you follow the news but it’s not good, is it? We don’t know what the next step is going to be. There doesn’t seem to be any answer to the crisis which is coming upon the world except the one we find...

Holy Spirit

H

He comes sweet influence to impart, A gracious, willing Guest, Where He can find one humble heart Wherein to rest And His that gentle voice we hear, Soft as the breath of even, That checks each fault, that calms each fear, And speaks of heaven. For every virtue we possess, And every victory won, And every thought of holiness, Are His alone, Spirit of purity and grace, Our weakness, pitying, see;...

Our response to Jesus Christ

O

They had to repent and believe, be baptized on confession of their faith.
So, being baptized, they were acknowledging that they believed that Jesus died for their sins and rose from the dead and therefore they would receive the Holy Spirit to a new life.
There had to be a response. And that response is important.
It's important that each one of us, individually, makes a response to Jesus Christ.
