Better or worse
On 27th August Sir Keir Starmer gave a speech in Downing Street in which he told the nation: “Things will get worse before they get better.” He went on to say that ‘this project (the new Labour government) has always been about fixing the foundations of this country.
I sent him a letter, enclosing copies of Light for the Last Days and ‘10 Signs of the return of the Messiah’ saying: ‘In your recent speech you said, “Things will get worse before they get better.” Unfortunately before they get better, they will get much, much worse before. Then they get better when Jesus returns. For details of how this will work out please read the enclosed magazine and booklet.’
Following this I sent him a copy of the latest Light for the Last Days which gives reasons why he and the Labour Party will not be able to fix the broken foundations of this country: ‘The foundations have been destroyed. In Psalm 11 we read ‘If the foundations are destroyed, What can the righteous do?’ As far as Britain is concerned, the social moral and spiritual foundations which underpinned our society have already been destroyed by the rejection of Christianity. The Labour government will not be able to repair these foundations and will contribute to the process of destroying them.’
I made this the theme of the lead article of the current Light for the Last Days. In this I compared the condition of this nation with the kingdom of Judah in the days of Isaiah, when he gave this rebuke to his nation: ‘Alas, sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity … They have forsaken the Lord, they have provoked to anger the Holy One of Israel, they have turned away backward. … The whole head is sick, and the whole heart faints. From the sole of the foot even to the head from the sole of the foot even to the head, there is no soundness in it, but bruises and sores and raw wounds.’ Isaiah 1.4-6
The cause of the crisis facing the nation is outlined in the rest of Isaiah’s prophecy:
Hear the word of the Lord, you rulers of Sodom; give ear to the law of our God, you people of Gomorrah.’ (10)
- We see the sin of Sodom being imposed on our land. The woke and LGBT agenda has infiltrated all areas of society, bringing with it moral confusion, in particular on children through amoral sex education in schools. As a result Bible believing Christians are finding it difficult to express their views in public and even risk losing their jobs if they say the wrong thing.
I cannot endure iniquity and the sacred meeting. (13)
- Much of the official church has compromised with this antichristian agenda, as major denominations undermine the foundations of the faith, with liberal theology, and add the homosexual and multi faith agenda to Christianity, thereby causing God to depart from their counsels.
Your country is desolate, your cities are burned with fire. (7)
- Crime and violence, shop lifting, knife crime, drug pushing and so on making our cities unsafe. Prisons overflowing and becoming unsafe areas of drug addiction and violence. Criminals released early from jail while government brings in new forms of ‘thought crime’ to crack down on its critics.
Strangers devour your land in your presence. (7)
- The country’s industry and factories have been exported abroad and major institutions now sold off to foreigners (no longer ‘Made in Britain’, but made in China and owned by India).
- We have uncontrolled illegal immigration putting pressure on services, education, welfare, health and a housing crisis putting the price of renting or buying beyond the ability of many people to afford, especially the young. Part of the reason for this has to be the fact that we have to absorb the equivalent of the population of Newcastle every year.
Your silver has become dross. (22). In Hebrew silver is kesef, which is also the ordinary word for money.
- Growing financial crisis in which people cannot afford housing costs, food, heating and hikes in taxation cutting living standards and driving many into poverty.
- UK debt now stands at £2.3 trillion, US debt at $33 trillion. These figures are rising every hour. Global economic turmoil is likely to happen sooner or later as a combination of negative trends in the world economic system cause the next global economic crisis.
Nothing that the present government is doing or planning to do will fix these problems, and many of the measures they are now proposing will only make them much worse. With five years to go before we can change the government and a weakened and divided opposition the prospect is not good for our nation.
From a spiritual point of view the problem is that the core values, based on Christianity and the Bible, that once made this country great have been abandoned and replaced with the diversity agenda – humanism, cultural Marxism and multi faith religion, with a growing influence being given to Islam. One by one our institutions have been taken over by this antichristian spirit – the education system, particularly the universities, much of the media, the civil service, the judiciary, the police and even much of the church. The Tories were powerless to prevent this happening while they held power. Sir Keir Starmer, an atheist, and the Labour government, with an ideology that favours the humanism, cultural Marxism and multi-cultural agenda, will make it worse.
May the Lord come soon and may He help us in the meantime to spread His word and call our people back to God.
“Come now, and let us reason together,” Says the Lord, “Though your sins are like scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they are red like crimson, they shall be as wool. If you are willing and obedient, you shall eat the good of the land; But if you refuse and rebel, you shall be devoured by the sword”; for the mouth of the Lord has spoken.” Isaiah 1.18-20.

Resist woke indoctrination of children
Trainee teachers plan to give lessons to children as young as five on ‘colonialism, slavery and the lasting impact of imperialism’ – as the woke agenda spreads from universities to schools. The new generation shows strong support for teaching which ‘challenges the long-standing dominance of Eurocentric and colonialist perspectives’.
They also believe that Christianity should not be the priority in RE, according to a survey.
In history lessons 97 per cent of trainees supported a move ‘beyond a Western-centric focus’ which breaks down the ‘Eurocentric biases’ and covers ‘historically oppressed groups’. Just 34 per cent agreed with putting the highest priority in RE on Christianity, but 84 per cent prefer the diversity of religious expression and resisting norms. The research, by the University of Wales Trinity Saint David, was published in the latest edition of the International Journal of Social Policy & Education.
In contrast, a poll by the Policy Exchange think-tank suggests most communities, whatever their racial makeup, do not support decolonising of the curriculum. Its survey of 3,400 adults revealed that all ethnic minority groups view Britain as a positive force throughout history and ’emphatically reject the view of some white progressives that it is wrong or racist’ to be taught to be proud of British history.
Ethnic minorities polled were as proud as any other demographic of Britain’s role in the world wars, Magna Carta, the industrial revolution and the abolition of the slave trade.
Critics said children were being indoctrinated by an agenda that reduces complex and nuanced humanities topics to ‘goodie and baddies’. Chris McGovern, chairman of the Campaign for Real Education, said: ‘It is no wonder that there is a teacher shortage. ‘Education “thought police” are the new witch-finder-generals, silencing those who do not conform to a woke ideology that labels Britain as forever stained by the original sin of colonialism and general wickedness.’
Professor Dennis Hayes, of Academics for Academic Freedom, said: ‘Decolonisation is a codeword for an elite attack on contemporary British culture and values by waging a war on the past. It shows contempt for ordinary people’s loyalty to family, community and country.’
New dangers from North Korea
North Korean soldiers were filmed training at a Russian military base amid reports that they are being deployed to the frontlines in Ukraine. The images show what appear to be North Korean soldiers in full battle gear being put through their paces at a military training base. Investigators claim the video was shot at a training ground in Sergeevka in the Primorsky Territory, which is in Russia‘s Far East. Volodymyr Zelensky claims North Korea is preparing 10,000 soldiers to join Russian forces in Ukraine describing it as “the first step to a world war”.
Putin’s war in Ukraine was designed to project Russia’s greatness and recreate it as a global power as in the days of the Soviet Union, so having to turn to recruits from North Korea is a sign of Russian desperation and weakness. Russia is estimated to be losing over 1000 troops a day in the war, as well as 70,000 already dead and the estimated 100,000 educated young Russians who have fled the country to escape the draft. 18 North Korean recruits are reported to have deserted the front line two days after arriving there.
Meanwhile tensions are rising on the Korean Peninsula. North Korea has said it was ready to attack its southern neighbour after claiming drones from South Korea had entered its capital of Pyongyang. The stark warning came after the country’s foreign ministry claimed that South Korean drones carrying propaganda leaflets critical of leader Kim Jong-un had flown over the North Korean capital Pyongyang three times. They claimed that the drones carrying leaflets filled with “inflammatory rumours and rubbish” were flown over the city on October 3, 9 and 10.
The North then blew up sections of road that, while not in use, are seen as symbolic of efforts to improve ties and, eventually, reunite the peninsula. The North Korean defence ministry has warned that “war may break out any moment” as it threatened to turn South Korea into a ‘pile of ashes.’
There is no doubt that this is a very serious situation. The North Koreans are well prepared for an invasion of South Korea, and if Kim Jong Un senses an opportunity he may pull the trigger.
China and Taiwan
At the other Far East danger point, on 14th October the Chinese surrounded Taiwan with warships and fighter jets. China has launched large military drills encircling the self-governing island of Taiwan, which Taipei has blasted as an “unreasonable provocation”. China’s PLA military deployed warships and fighter jets to send a “stern warning” against “separatist acts of Taiwan independence forces”. Taiwan urged China to refrain from military provocations even as it upped its army’s readiness.
All this comes as the Republic of China (ROC) in Taiwan celebrated its 10.10 (October 10th) National Day 113th anniversary. The newly inaugurated (May 2024) ROC President, Mr Lai, does not keep quiet about the country’s democracy and its stance against bullying from China (PRC). This reflects the sentiment of many people in Taiwan who, when asked about a potential armed conflict with China, openly say that they’ll fight the Chinese if that is what it takes.
As part of the National Day celebrations on the 5th of October, President Lai used his short speech to more than 20,000 people in the Taipei Dome (and millions on TV and online) to exemplify his government’s stance against the CCP.
He said that China expects that ROC treats Communist China as their ‘motherland’ 祖國 and congratulates them on their 75th anniversary (since the 1949’s communist revolution). However, he continued, this shows how out of synch they are with the historical reality. Lai said that it was the CCP who should be congratulating the Republic of China on its 113th anniversary celebrated this year on October 10th and that if anyone wanted to congratulate the PRC on their 75th anniversary, they should avoid using the word ‘motherland’ to describe it as the ROC is obviously the older of the two.
Historically, The Republic of China (ROC) began as a country in mainland China. It was established on 1 January 1912 after the 1911 Revolution, which overthrew the Manchu-led Qing dynasty and ended China’s imperial history.
After this, and only a week later, on October 14, the PLA Eastern Theatre Command deployed joint operations of the army, navy, air force and rocket force. These assets have been largely concentrated in the Taiwan Strait, as well as surrounding Taiwan. “The joint drills focused on sea and air combat readiness, blockading key Taiwanese ports and areas, and assaults on maritime and ground targets,” described the eastern theatre command’s spokesperson, senior captain Li Xi.
The good news is that this was just a military exercise.
The Chinese are practicing for a future blockade of Taiwan, and just before the military exercise commenced a video was released that boldly declared that the Chinese military is “prepared for battle at all times and can fight anytime”. Just before these fresh drills, China’s military issued and circulated a propaganda video entitled “prepared for battle” on various social media accounts. The about one-minute video features fighter jets, warships and amphibious assault vessels taking to the air and sea near Taiwan. Mobile rocket launchers are also seen being manoeuvred and made ready for attacks. Text associated with the video said Chinese forces are “prepared for battle at all times and can fight anytime.”
A blockade will probably be the very first step that the Chinese take when they decide that it is time to forcibly “reunite” with Taiwan. At the moment that they establish such a blockade, the U.S. and China will be at war.
The Rise of Political Islam in Belgium: A Growing Threat
Belgium is undergoing a dangerous transformation driven by the rise of political Islam, which is challenging the foundations of its secular democracy. At the forefront of this movement is the Islam Party, led by Moroccan-born Fouad Ahidar. His growing political influence has sparked concerns across Belgium, raising the possibility that it could become Europe’s first nation where Sharia law takes hold through democratic processes.
Fouad Ahidar’s journey from a Moroccan immigrant to a rising political force in Belgium mirrors the larger threat posed by political Islam. Initially a member of the left-wing Socialist Party (Vooruit), Ahidar was expelled in 2023 after his vocal support for Hamas and opposition to banning Halal slaughter. The Halal slaughter practice, beyond its religious significance, has been linked to financial flows benefiting extremist organizations like Hamas and Hezbollah. This position led to a rupture with the Socialist Party, but Ahidar quickly responded by forming his own political faction in early 2024: Team Fouad Ahidar (TFA).
TFA is not a fringe group. In the June 2024 elections, it stunned political analysts by securing 16.5% of the vote in Brussels, earning three seats in the Brussels Parliament and one in the Flemish Parliament. TFA’s victories are not isolated events—they represent a broader trend of political Islam gaining ground in Belgium.
TFA’s platform is clear: the party seeks to reshape Belgium’s legal and cultural frameworks to align with Sharia (Islamic law), including oppressive norms for women. The party opposes restrictions on Islamic veils like the Niqab and Burqa, which are symbols of control and subjugation, and actively campaigns for government employees to be allowed to wear Sharia-adherent attire. This push for religiously oppressive dress codes reflects a broader agenda of imposing Sharia’s restrictive rules on women’s freedoms.
Even more concerning is their open support for Hamas, a terrorist organization, which Ahidar infamously downplayed as a “small reaction by a part of Hamas” after their brutal terror attacks on innocent Israelis. Ahidar’s rhetoric has crossed into dangerous territory, especially with his frequent antisemitic remarks. He has referred to Jews as “psychopaths”, “serial killers” and accused Israel of committing “genocide.” His stances on Hamas, along with TFA’s alignment with radical Islamic ideologies, signal a clear departure from democratic norms. The party represents not just a political threat but a cultural one, aiming to dismantle Belgium’s secular identity in favour of Sharia-based governance.
Belgium’s shifting demographics have provided the fertile ground necessary for political Islam’s rise. Today, 46% of Brussels’ population is of non-European origin, with a significant portion of this demographic identifying as Muslim. This transformation has allowed Islamist parties like TFA to capitalize on growing Muslim communities, particularly in areas like Molenbeek and Anderlecht, where TFA received 14.6% and 14.1% of the vote, respectively.
Molenbeek, long known as a hub for jihadist activity, has been described as a breeding ground for Islamic extremism. It housed several terrorists responsible for the 2015 Islamic attacks in Paris and Brussels and remains a centre of radicalization. TFA’s electoral success in these neighbourhoods is a sign that political Islam is taking deep root in areas with large Muslim populations, raising concerns that these regions may increasingly operate under informal Sharia-based community norms.
The rise of TFA is more than just a political story—it is a warning that Sharia is creeping into Belgium’s institutions and public spaces. Ahidar and his party are not simply participating in Belgium’s democratic process; they are using it as a vehicle to dismantle the very foundations of democracy. Their vision for Belgium is one where Islamic law overrides secular values, and where individual freedoms are sacrificed in favour of religious dictates.
This trend is not confined to Belgium. Across Europe, Islamic parties are leveraging growing Muslim populations to push for more influence, often under the guise of democratic participation. TFA’s rise in Belgium serves as a warning that political Islam is not a theoretical threat—it is an unfolding reality that will reshape Europe’s political landscape if left unchecked.
Belgium’s shift toward political Islam has been aided by significant foreign support. Hundreds of mosques across the country are funded by Islamic nations such as Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Morocco. These foreign-backed mosques serve as platforms for spreading Islam, often with imams handpicked by foreign governments. These imams play a crucial role in shaping the political and cultural views of Belgium’s growing Muslim population, providing a base of support for parties like TFA. The interconnectedness between foreign governments and local Islamic movements poses a direct challenge to Belgium’s sovereignty and its ability to maintain a secular, democratic state.
The rise of TFA is part of a larger trend in Belgium—one that threatens to erode the country’s secular democracy and replace it with an Islamic state governed by Sharia law. With over 26 regional and federal deputies of Moroccan origin and several Muslim mayors already holding office, the political landscape in Belgium is shifting rapidly in favour of those who would see the country transformed into an Islamic enclave.
Belgium now faces a critical juncture. Will it uphold its secular values and democratic principles, or will it succumb to the growing influence of political Islam? The rise of TFA is not just a warning—it’s a call to action for those who believe in the preservation of Belgium’s secular identity. The country’s future hangs in the balance, and the decisions made in the coming years will determine whether Belgium remains a secular democracy or transforms into a state governed by Sharia.
The stakes are high, and the battle for Belgium’s soul has only just begun. And of course Brussels is the centre of power for the European Union.
