8 So I looked, and behold, a pale horse. And the name of him who sat on it was Death, and Hades followed with him. And power was given to them over a fourth of the earth, to kill with sword, with hunger, with death, and by the beasts of the earth. Revelation 6:8
There’s another thing which I haven’t mentioned, which is world hunger and the climate crisis.
Now, I have a few questions about the traditional ‘global warming’ thing which they’re putting upon us, but I can’t deny that there is a climate crisis in the world.
Maybe it’s not all caused by greenhouse gases, but it is happening, and there is a massive increase in temperatures happening in parts of the world, droughts, and you floods taking place in different countries.
According to the UN, you’ve got a increase in world hunger with 309 million people facing starvation in 72 countries, conflict being the main driver of acute insecurity to all, including 35 million people in 20 countries. Also, extreme weather events are affecting 77 million people and more and more countries are experiencing severe flooding, storms, droughts, wildfires as well as pest and disease outbreaks.
These are all contributors to the food crisis whereby it is estimated that 5% of the entire population of Sudan could starve to death by the end of 2024. More than half of the country’s 45 million people urgently need humanitarian assistance. So, we have got half of a population of 45 million in danger of death caused by a war which Muslims are waging on each other.
I don’t know how many people who’ve seen demonstrating against that in London, but I haven’t seen any.
There’s a lot demonstrating against Israel, yet you’ got all these situations taking
place in the world which are leading to massive, insoluble problems for millions of people which could end up with starvation and death on a huge scale.
According to an article which I read, experts agree that what we’re experiencing right now is just the beginning; because the land is being degraded at a staggering pace. 40% of the world’s land is already degraded. It is expected that the figure will reach 95% by 2050. The head of the UN food program says that in some of the poorest countries of the world, they’ve reached a point where there are zero harvests left. Drought and flooding have become so common in some of the poorest part of the earth that the land can no longer sustain crops.
The director of the World Food Programs Global Office has said that ‘when soil degrades, the organic matter that binds it together dies off and that means it’s less able to support plant life, reducing crop yields and absorbing carbon from the atmosphere’.
I don’t know if that makes sense to you, but what happens if 95% of the world’s soil is degraded? We’re done, we’re finished! We only live because of the top soil on the earth.
I went and dug our allotment the other day, and I just thought that ‘that little bit of top soil there is what makes the difference between us and mass death’. Without that, there’s no food on the earth, and it’s being degraded.
You know, these are other signs which really no one has an answer to, and it’s a
sign of the Second Coming of Jesus. Now, according to some people, all these things are going to set off a global crisis which is inevitable.
You may find that a bit depressing, but if you read the Bible, it is inevitable because the Bible says it’s going to happen, and it speaks about the time of the Great Tribulation when these things are coming on the earth.
15 “Therefore when you see the ‘abomination of desolation,’ spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place” (whoever reads, let him understand), 16 “then let those who are in Judea flee to the mountains. 17 Let him who is on the housetop not go down to take anything out of his house. 18 And let him who is in the field not go back to get his clothes. 19 But woe to those who are pregnant and to those who are nursing babies in those days! 20 And pray that your flight may not be in winter or on the Sabbath. 21 For then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be. 22 And unless those days were shortened, no flesh would be saved; but for the elect’s sake those days will be shortened. Matthew 24.15-22
