The simple answer is that Hamas and most of the Palestinian Authority want to wipe out Israel and create a Palestinian state ‘from the river to the sea’ (the Mediterranean to the Jordan River). Hezbollah, Iran, and Turkey support them in this endeavour. Israel, understandably, does not want to be wiped out so defends itself with Iron Dome defence system and with counter attacks on Hamas when they fire rockets into Israel.
The attempt to eliminate Israel has gone on from ‘day one’ after Ben Gurion proclaimed Medinat Israel, the State of Israel on 14 May 1948 and five Arab armies attacked the next day with the idea of destroying the Jewish state at birth.
Every attempt to destroy Israel has failed. This present one will too.
