The motivation is pride, and people would like to be lifted up to take the place of God. This doesn’t change, whether it is in ancient times or nowadays. At the end of the day, people ‘build up’ to get a name for themselves. Most people in Western societies say, ‘don’t bother me with the truth’. It’s the apathy of a self-centred, materialistic society: ‘I deserve, you deserve…’ What do we deserve? We don’t deserve anything. People claim and they are self-centred, and materialism is everything to us. But the truth makes us afraid. – Kyuwon Park
