Pride month – a new religion

I watched an interview the other day with the man called Matthew Roberts. He’s a pastor up in York, I think.

On the Christian Institute website he was rating this whole issue of the Pride Month which we’re in at this present time.

Now, we are in what’s called ‘Pride Month’, a yearly event in which they celebrate LGBT issues. Everywhere you go, you see flags of the LGBT movement adorning businesses, government offices, schools, universities, and even some churches.

The Houses of Parliament will lit up with the Pride flag.

At the concert after the Coronation Windsor Castle was lit up with the pride colours just to show how all the establishment whether it’s the politicians or the King, the education system, everybody is celebrating Pride Month.

It’s a new religion basically based on worship of self. That’s what Matthew Roberts said, and I paraphrase him here:

He wrote a book called ‘Pride, identity and the worship of self‘ and says that that Pride is becoming a religious movement which people are required to bow down to. That it has its Pride marches ,like religious processions in medieval times

which celebrate events in the Christian calendar

It has its own sacred language which you must use when discussing its issues, you have endless initials which are now being added to. I think it’s LGBTQIA+, you have to work out what all those are, I’m not quite sure. But, if you use the wrong language you may face criticism and rejection.

This religion has its own dogmas which you’re required to believe. It is showing a new way in which society should be understood, and a new moral code which you must conform to.

It is also developing a kind of blasphemy law that criminalizes anyone who speaks against its lifestyle and/or tries to persuade somebody to leave it to become straight or to become a Christian.

Of course, if you’re a Christian preacher and you describe homosexual practice or secular activity outside of marriage as sinful, then, you’re particularly guilty of breaking this ‘new command’.

Now, according to this movement, your identity as a gay or a trans man or woman defines ‘Who You Are’. This is a result of your choice, of how you feel about yourself. But, they would say it is the result of ‘what’s defined into you’, it’s part of your what you inherit at birth.

Anyone who doesn’t accept this is guilty of a hate crime equal to discrimination against somebody because of their race or colour.

Matthew Roberts says that this movement has become a new religion based on ‘the worship of Self’ and I think he’s absolutely right here.

Now, the problem is that Self is not God. God is God, and this whole construct is based upon a false account of what a human being is. As a result, there are some serious destructive effects which come upon us when you violate the restraining influence of conscience and the commands which the real God has put upon us to save us from the sin-nature which is within us.

If we accept this new religion, we open ourselves up to the destructive power of sin which is in the heart of man, to all those sins Jesus spoke of and are inside human beings.

¹⁰ When He had called the multitude to Himself, He said to them, “Hear and understand: ¹¹ Not what goes into the mouth defiles a man; but what comes out of the mouth, this defiles a man.”

¹² Then His disciples came and said to Him, “Do You know that the Pharisees were offended when they heard this saying?”

¹³ But He answered and said, “Every plant which My heavenly Father has not planted will be uprooted. ¹⁴ Let them alone. They are blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind leads the blind, both will fall into a ditch.”

¹⁵ Then Peter answered and said to Him, “Explain this parable to us.”

¹⁶ So Jesus said, “Are you also still without understanding? ¹⁷ Do you not yet understand that whatever enters the mouth goes into the stomach and is eliminated? ¹⁸ But those things which proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and they defile a man. ¹⁹ For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies. ²⁰ These are the things which defile a man, but to eat with unwashed hands does not defile a man.”

Matthew 15.10-20

Nothing illustrates this more than what we have now in the transgender movement which is telling us that children, that boys can become girls and girls can become boys, that your gender your sex is not fixed, it is fluid.

As a result, children are being encouraged to change their gender and, in doing this, they can do some permanent damage to their bodies.

Additionally, they are ignoring the obvious physical realities that boys are boys, and girls are girls and that men and women are different and that, in fact, nothing can change those differences which are built into our bodies and minds from birth. A man cannot become a woman and a woman can’t become a man.

I saw a really ludicrous advert on Facebook magazine which had a picture of ‘a pregnant person’ that’s called a person who was a woman who now identified as a man. So, he’s a trans man who was living with a normal man who himself identified as a ‘I don’t know what’ but, in any case, they were living together and the woman became pregnant.

The advert was saying that this example proved that a trans-man can become pregnant!

Doesn’t that prove that a trans man is a woman? And that she becomes pregnant?

But this is the kind of insanity which is being fed to people and people really believe it. I mean, I don’t, but they do really believe it. It’s being put upon us and it’s kind of violating the basic things which God has put into our bodies.

This goes beyond just a political statement, it has become a religious practice because it’s becoming part of a false religion which is blinding people’s eyes to the truth, and making them do all kinds of things to their bodies which are actually harmful and which cannot be reversed.

In fact, now the underlying assumption behind all of this is that you’re defined by what you feel not what you are. We have to be defined by the fact of what we are not what we feel like.

This sentiment is deeply embedded in the whole gay pride movement which began in the 70s, which itself came out of the secular revolution that began in the 60s arising from the humanist philosophy which has been taking hold of lour culture for 150 years and puts the centre of our lives away from God our maker onto our human identity giving us ‘the right’ to define who we are and what we do.

You have a right to choose how you live, that’s for sure.

But, in the end, you have to live your life under the fact that there is a God who made you, who knows all about you, who gave you commands for your good, and who ultimately is going to judge you according to how you’ve lived this life.

That whole idea is rejected by modern philosophy. Therefore, we have all this confusion which is around us. We have sex education in schools encouraging children to experiment with all kinds of sexual behaviours without a restraining influence.

Even drag queens are going into schools to tell children stories which reinforce the LGBT and free sex view of the world.

And we have sex education lessons in which children are being encouraged to experiment with different sexual behaviours, that way having their resistance to sexual advances from others lowered, frankly.

When God sees this happening, He is so angry that he says that this society which does this to its children is doomed.

If you’re going to do that to your children, you’re actually paving the way that leads to the destruction of society.

Sadly, many of the denominations of the church, including the Church of England, the Church of Scotland, and the Methodist Church have fallen in with this and fallen in with the pride ideology. And, as Matthew says, this is another gospel. Pride has its own gospel. It is the opposite of the Christian one. Rather than set you free from your natural corrupt ideas and desires to enable you to follow the laws of God, it is the laws of God and the traditional moral values of society you need to be set free from.

They are the problem they say. Once we’re rescued from God’s commands which are terribly bad for us, we’re free to indulge all of our desires.

This is the exact opposite of what the Bible says. So, you’ve got two different gods, two different gospels.

Roberts concludes by mentioning the fact that pride is a good word to use for this because pride is the original sin. What was the original sin of Satan? That he wanted to be like God. He wanted to take the place of God.

In Christian theology too, all that’s gone wrong with the world is the result of Satan’s pride wanting to take the place of God described in two passages in the Bible in Isaiah 14 and Ezekiel chapter 28.

It’s interesting that the first verse of Ezekiel 28 (directed to the King of Tyre) and, in that passage, the person King of Tyre becomes merged with the person of Satan. It describes the idea that the devil is behind the King of Tyre.

Verse 2 in the NIV version says,

“‘In the pride of your heart
    you say, “I am a god;
I sit on the throne of a god
    in the heart of the seas.”
But you are a mere mortal and not a god,
    though you think you are as wise as a god.

Ezekiel 28.2

Pride leads you to think that you are like God. Pride is the original sin. But you are not God, you’re a finite human being and one day you’re going to die.

It goes on in Ezekiel to say,

⁶ ‘Therefore thus says the Lord God:

“Because you have set your heart as the heart of a god,
⁷ Behold, therefore, I will bring strangers against you,
The most terrible of the nations;
And they shall draw their swords against the beauty of your wisdom,
And defile your splendour.
⁸ They shall throw you down into the Pit,
And you shall die the death of the slain
In the midst of the seas.

Ezekiel 28.6-8

That prophecy was fulfilled literally because Tyre, a great city in the ancient world, off the coast of what now is Lebanon (Phoenicia) was totally destroyed first of all by Nebuchadnezzar,

and finally by Alexander the Great when he literally scraped the whole city off the island and threw it into the sea.

And he says that this is going to come as a judgment of God because of your pride, because you set yourself up as God.

Now, I would say that, just in the same way, God is saying to Western Society, particularly to the United States, to Britain, to Europe, to all these people who are putting these things in place, ‘the Judgment of God is going to fall upon you in the same way sooner or later‘.

God’s judgment will fall as it says in the scriptures at the time of the Last Days’ tribulation before the Second Coming of Jesus Christ, and the only way to be safe from this is to repent and believe the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
