Are we on the Eve of Destruction?

“Hear me, Asa, and all Judah and Benjamin. The Lord is with you while you are with Him. If you seek Him, He will be found by you; but if you forsake Him, He will forsake you. For a long time Israel has been without the true God, without a teaching priest, and without law; but when in their trouble they turned to the Lord God of Israel, and sought Him, He was found by them.
Back in the 1960s there was a famous protest song ‘The Eve of Destruction’, sung by Barry Maguire. Its chorus said:
You tell me
Over and over and over again, my friend
How you don’t believe
We’re on the eve of destruction.
That was nearly 60 years ago and we have managed to survive (just about) until now. But now it seems we really could be on the eve of destruction.
Multiple crises are striking the earth. The Israel – Gaza conflict risks spiralling out of control with missiles flying around the Middle East and mass deaths taking place. To say nothing of the continuing war between Russia and Ukraine, the potential one involving China and Taiwan, various conflicts in Africa, poverty, bad governance and environmental problems causing 10% of the world to go to bed hungry. Massive debts threaten the economic future of the world’s biggest economies and the campaign to reach net zero to save us from climate change will cost us trillions which we don’t have and can’t afford.
All this is pushing us in the direction of the end time prophecies of the Bible
Then Jesus said to them, “Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. And there will be great earthquakes in various places, and famines and pestilences; and there will be fearful sights and great signs from heaven. …
And there will be signs in the sun, in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations, with perplexity, the sea and the waves roaring; men’s hearts failing them from fear and the expectation of those things which are coming on the earth, for the powers of the heavens will be shaken. Then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory. Now when these things begin to happen, look up and lift up your heads, because your redemption draws near.” Jesus speaking in Luke’s Gospel chapter 21.
If you want to survive what’s coming, you must do what the Bible says: Repent of your sins and believe the Gospel. Jesus is coming back to judge the world in righteousness.
